CHACHOENGSAO – A young school boy in Chachoengsao Province has miraculously survived impaling himself through the neck while trying to jump a metal gate.

Tharathep Wanacharoenlap, 11, was attempting to climb over the railings to see his friend when he slipped at the top. One of the rusty spikes impaled his neck “ but by some stroke of luck, it missed his arteries.

The 11-year-old managed to hold himself up by the arms for an incredible ten minutes “ escaping further injury and what would have been a pretty horrific fall “ before passers-by came to his aid.

Emergency services in Chachoengsao managed to cut him free with the metal still embedded in his neck and rushed him to hospital, where he is said to have given nurses a thumbs-up suggesting he is okay.

The boy apparently climbs the gate every day to see his friend “ who is too lazy to walk 800 metres to open it.

However, recent days had seen rainstorms, leaving the railings rather wet and causing him to lose his balance.

Tharathep is still recovering in hospital after the accident and medics say he should be released within the next few days without any life changing injuries.

Once home, we hope his friend will finally take pity and start letting him in through the door.
