BANGKOK – A 57-year-old German National Doris Erika Beger, was found dead after allegedly jumping from the 24th floor of a luxury condo in Bangkok’s Pathumwan district in the early hours of Saturday.
Pol Capt Noppara Thongbor, a deputy investigation chief at Lumpini police station said her body was found in the swimming pool on the sixth floor of a 30-storey condominium on Soi Mahadlek 2 in the Lumpini area.
Her husband Rudolf Beger, 70, a lawyer, told police that he and his wife had lived in the condominium for three years.
Before the incident, Mr Beger said, the couple had gone out to have a meal and drank some wine on Sukhumvit Soi 1 in Bangkok. On their way home they had got into a quarrel, Berger said his wife threatened to jump to her death when she arrived but he thought she wasn’t serious as she was drunk.
Upon arrival at the condominium, his wife entered the room first walking strait to the balcony while telling him she would jump. At the time, he still thought she was joking. She then threw herself over the balcony, thus falling to her death.
Police and forensic officers inspected the room. They plan to examine footage of a closed-circuit television camera and further interrogate the German man and other witnesses.
Her body was sent to a forensic institute for post-Morten examination to find out the cause of death.
