PATTAYA – Pol Col Nattawat Ploenchit, a duty officer at the Pattaya police station has reported that a 48-year-old German National was found dead on Pattaya beach on Saturday morning.
Pol Col Nattawat Ploenchit told the Bangkok Post reported that he was alerted around 8.30am on Saturday and upon arrival found the German’s body face-down on the beach..
An empty bottle of foreign whiskey and another unopened bottle of the same brand were found near the body. There were no signs of a struggle and the man’s belongings were untouched.
Police believed the German national had died at least one or two hours before his body was found.
Sa-ngob Kaewsathorn, 48, a scavenger, told police that he had seen the man drinking alone on the beach around 12.30am.
When he passed the area again in the morning, he noticed the man was still there but his face was in the sand. After determining that the man was dead, Mr Sa-ngob called the police.
Police believed the German might have died of sudden heart attack after drinking a lot of alcohol. His body will be sent to Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death. Officers are also informing the German embassy.
