Worlds Largest Thai Flag Hoisted in Chiang Rai
CHIANG RAI – The Guinness World Records has verified that the largest Thai national flag flown was achieved in Chiang Saen district of Chiang Rai province yesterday.
Dignitaries from Thailand and neighboring countries presided over the inauguration ceremony along with 32 monks and over a thousand spectators. Attendees observed a moment of silence for the passing of His late Majesty before singing the national anthem together.
Three cranes were used to raise the flag to the mast before it was hoisted to the top of the flag pole.
The flag measured 34 meters in width and 63 meters in length, and was produced to commemorate the first centennial anniversary of Thailand’s national flag, as well as to create a new tourist attraction in the province, which is part of the Golden Triangle.
The location will house a national flag museum that will provide knowledge on the history of the Thai national flag in the future.
