Win a Trip to Thailand

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration brings Bangkok closer to you with "Bangkok is Waiting For You" online campaign!

After months of devastating floods, Thailand is attempting to revive its tourism industry with a contest encouraging global travellers to create their own ‘Bangkok Wish List’.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has a pair of round-trip business-class flights to Bangkok and a stay at the 5-star Mandarin Oriental Bangkok up for grabs for one lucky winner.

Applicants must pick five city attractions or activities that would be on their hotlist while in Bangkok and submit a brief reason as to why they should be chosen.

Wish lists with the most ‘likes’ on facebook and that have been re-tweeted the most will win the contestat bangkokiswaitingforyou.com –  which ends on January 16, 2012.

The flooding – Thailand’s most severe in 50 years – affected large swathes of Thailand, killed more than 600 people and forced the closure of Don Muang Airport in Bangkok, used mainly for domestic flights.

International tourism in the country appears to be steadily recovering, while domestic tourism has slumped since the floods.

The Tourism Council of Thailand has revised its overseas arrivals figures for this year from 19.5 million down to 18.3 million after factoring in the floods.

Hotel bookings fall

Hotel bookings have also been affected by the floods, but deals will soon be offered in an attempt to boost occupancy.

The Thai hotels Association (THA) and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hope to restore tourist confidence during the peak tourist season with a one-month long campaign to promote “buy one get one free” deals on standard room rates at participating hotels.

The flood recovery programme – called ‘Beautiful Thailand buy one get one free’ will run from December 15-January 15, 2012. The offer will be promoted through TAT’s global offices.

*Please note that this competition is organised by The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
