The Pennies for Papa Foundation School Grand Opening Chiangrai August 11th, 2012

Our grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 11th

Chiangrai Times – The Pennies for Papa Foundation has been offering free English classes to the children of the Akha Village, as well as other locations around Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, for the past 3 years. Classes are taught by Native English Speakers who volunteer their time.

The original school was a one room building; the need to expand became obvious as the popularity of the classes grew. A new building was designed to include 3 separate classroom areas, a computer lab room, and a community center where the focus is on English Immersion, and a kitchen. A generous donor gave the seed money to the foundation to begin building the school, and along with many smaller donations from the community the school has finally been completed.

Our grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 11th will be a traditional Akha Celebration and blessing of the school. The community is invited to join in our celebration.

Pennys for Papa Foundation also hosts a Guesthouse for the Volunteers and Interns, who pay for their room and meals and volunteer their time. We also offer a free 120 Hour Online TESOL program for English speakers who wish to pursue a teaching career in Thailand.

For more specific information you can visit our website at Pennies for Papa or contact Vice President Rock Cella at 084 756 3900.
