CHIANG RAI – Thailand’s Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul has visited Chiang Rai to discuss a tourism development plan with Chiang Rai’s tourism sector.

Mrs. Kobkarn met with representatives of public and private agencies, including the Offices of Tourism and Sports of Nan and Phrae, the Association of Northern Tourism Federation in Chiang Rai and the Chiang Rai Chamber of Commerce. at Grand Vista Hotel in Chiang Rai.  During the event, she gave a lecture on human resource development.

Mrs. Kobkarn commented that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports designated Chiang Rai a city with sustainable tourism thanks to the uniqueness of its attractions.

She admired the private sector for launching numerous activities that foster cooperation with the public sector and have increased tourist arrivals from new markets such as Vietnam, Malaysia and South Korea.

Mrs. Kobkarn also voiced her satisfaction with the robust tourism activity in Chiang Rai which remains unaffected by bomb attacks in southern provinces last month.

Representatives of the Association of Northern Tourism Federation in Chiang Rai and the Chiang Rai Chamber of Commerce meanwhile took the opportunity to speak about plans to upgrade tourism and the availability of products of the northernmost province.
