Thai Soldier Stabs Ex-Girlfriend to Death in Front of Hundreds of Tourists in Pattaya
PATTAYA – A 21 year old Thai Soldier from Lopburi Province has been arrested in Pattaya after stabbed his ex-girlfriend repeatedly in-front of hundreds of shocked tourists on Walking Street on Thursday Night.
Pol Lt Chainarong Chai-in, a deputy crime suppression inspector at Pattaya police station said the disturbing incident occurred in front of a 7-Eleven Convenience Store in the center of Walking Street around 7pm on Thursday.
According to Pattaya One News, Miss Wilailak Pidtathasa, 33, a female friend and two Australian men were entering walking street when her younger former lover, Mr.Santirat Raksapakdi, 21, leaped out of the shadows and plunged a knife into her back.
Mr.Santirat Raksapakdi, 21, then reportedly slashed her throat and stabbed her several more times as the two Australian’s tried to restrain him. The two Australian’s sustained minor injuries as the victim crumbled to the ground.
Witnesses reported Mr.Santirat then laid down and embraced Wilailak Pidtathasa, 33 as she laid dying.
Mr.Santirat was finally was overpowered by people in the area and held for police.
Mr.Santirat later told Police that he had gone AWOL from his barracks in Lopburi in a desperate attempt to search for his former girlfriend who had ended their relationship prior to him entering the army.
He discovered she worked in a Bar and had a new foreign boyfriend. Just before the attack he purchase a curved-blade knife and a 15cm meat cleaver at a nearby store and waited for her to appear and then attacked her.
Sadly before her tragic death, she reportedly filed a report with Pattaya police saying she feared he might hurt her.
Police will hand the suspect over to the Army for further discipline although he has been charged with murder by Police pending further punishment from his Army superiors.
