Teen Kill Man for Jumping Queue at Chiang Mai Temple

CHIANGMAI -A man has been killed by two teenagers after he cut into a queue to get food for his child at a religious ceremony in Chiang Mai province on Sunday, police said.

Pol Col Suchart Kan-ngen, of Chiang Mai police, said the victim was named as Mon Lungpan, aged 43, from Shan state in Myanmar.

On Sunday morning, Mon took his wife and child to a merit-making ceremony held at a temple in Chiang Mai’s Mae Taeng district.

The ceremony was crowded with people, many of whom were lining up to get free food.

A confrontation started when Mon cut into the queue to get food for his child. Two teenagers who were standing in the queue became angry with him and one of them slashed his throat with a broken beer bottle.

The two men then fled on a motorcycle.

Mon was rushed to Maharaj Nakorn Chiangmai Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Pol Col Suchart said police knew the whereabouts of the two teenagers and were gathering more evidence and witnesses before seeking arrest warrants.
