The goal of this visit is to express the commitment of the United States to Thailand, as a partner and a friend of the USA for 181 years,” said Mark Benjamin, commanding officer of the USS Frank Cable. While visiting, the sailors on board are scheduled to be involved in several activities, for example, a soccer competition, visiting the Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) at Huay Yai community, and calling in on Pattaya’s orphanages.

Anchoring off is a great opportunity for sailors to be exposed to Thai culture. We have activities planned for the community, and field trips to allow our sailors to better understand the nearly two century long relationship of two nations. In addition, the sailors will take a rest, go shopping, try delicious food, and learn aspects of Thai culture and tradition, the commanding officer added.

The Frank Cable conducts maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet’s area of responsibility.
