BANGKOK – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister’s Office in Bangkok. Yingluck expressed that the Thai side is satisfied with the development of Thailand-China relations and hopes to expand practical Wang YI as well met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Suraporn Tovichakchaikulcooperation with China in all fields to jointly achieve the win-win outcomes.

China highly valuing ASEAN-China relations helps to boost the confidence in the region to promote development and to safeguard stability. Thailand, as Country Coordinator of ASEAN-China Relations, is willing to work with China to push for stable development of ASEAN-China relations.Wang Yi extended welcome to Yingluck for attending the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning scheduled September this year.

Wang Yi noted that China and Thailand are like one family. The two countries should maintain high-level exchanges and further strengthen cooperation in the fields of construction of railway and water conservancy infrastructure, agricultural products and new energy to push for sustained, healthy and rapid development of China-Thailand relations.

Wang Yi spoke positively of the work Thailand has done to promote China-ASEAN relations since Thailand succeeded as Country Coordinator of ASEAN-China Relations. He expressed that China stands ready to work with Thailand and other ASEAN countries to highlight cooperation and development, to continuously deepen the China-ASEAN strategic partnership and to create favourable conditions for major events between China and ASEAN including a series of meetings between East Asian leaders this year.

Wang YI as well met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Suraporn Tovichakchaikul in Bangkok the same day. The two sides exchanged views and reached broad consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation and working together to ensure the success of the China-ASEAN major events in the second half of this year.
