CHIANG RAI – Police in Chiang Rai seized methamphetamine pills with an estimated street value of 90 million baht and arrested three suspected drug couriers on Tuesday.

Chiang Rai police chief Pol Maj Gen Wanchai Suwansirikhet said Siam Srisuwan, a 38-year-old Mae Hong Son resident, was arrested on a tour bus heading to Bangkok when police found 300,000 speed pills hidden in his luggage.

Mr Siam, who has been to prison four times for different offences, allegedly confessed that he was paid 600,000 baht to deliver the drugs from Chiang Rai to Bangkok.

Chiang Rai police meanwhile arrested Nirut Ja-eu, 21, and a 14-year-old boy with 2,000 yaba pills in their possession.

The two were apprehended on their way to deliver the drugs to clients in Muang district.

They allegedly told police that the meth pills were smuggled in through the border district of Mae Chan
