Museflower Retreat & Spa – Teaching Youngsters Inner Peace

CHIANG RAI – “Inner Peace Leads to Outer Peace”, was the message taught by Museflower Retreat & Spa Chiang Rai when it celebrated International Peace Day recently by hosting the local village school in Ban Samanmit, Chiang Rai.   Sixteen primary school children from Grade 1 to Grade 6 and three teachers were invited to join in a day of learning techniques of wellness with the Museflower Retreat & Spa staff.

The children were refreshed with homemade soy milk and snacks during a welcome speech by Museflower Retreat founder and owner Tania Ho.

“After introducing them to Museflower Retreat and explaining to them that this is a place where we promote health and being close to nature, the main point of my talk was that peace around the world is important, but the most important is inner peace.    We may not be able to change the outside world that easily.  The only thing we can change is our mindset   So with yoga, meditation and other types of calming and creative activities, such as mandala painting, we can achieve peace within,” says Tania.

Khun Watchararat, Museflower Retreat’s wellness practitioner, thenled a session of mandala drawing for children to draw their ideal picture of a peaceful world, using oil pastels and color pencils. Each student shared their drawing one by one and in most of the mandalas they all drew their family, a house, and nature.   In this way, Khun Watchararatshared with students the message that “it’s  important to share love with our parents, family members, friends, animals and nature to achieve peace and harmony together. This is how we achieve outer peace in our outer world.”

Then Khun Kanlayanee, Museflower Retreat’s spa and wellness trainer, led a fun 20-minute session of yoga and stretching. She also let the students do partner yoga with each other and ended with a hug.

The students toured around the property including the organic farm and gardens. A delicious, nutritious organic vegetarian lunch picked fresh from the farm was followed with coconut ice cream  with all the retreat staff and students eating together.

The students and teachers each left with a Museflower cotton gift bag filled with school supplies and a pack of natural, mineral-rich Himalayan pink crystal salt.  Museflower Retreat & Spa was also delighted to donate six children’s’ storybooks with bi-lingual English and Thai texts for the school’s library.
