Irishman Arrested in Pattaya for Dropping “F-bombâ€on Immigration Official
PATTAYA – Irishman Brian Daniel Walsh has been arrested in Pattaya after dropping an “F-bomb†on Pol. Capt. Maneeporn Boonlieng at the Chonburi Immigration Office in Jomtien Beach.
Brian Walsh, 37, was arrested for overstaying his 15-day visa by four days and told to leave the country within 24 hours the Pattaya Mail reported.
According to the Pattaya Mail report, Walsh was incensed at having to pay 3,900 baht to legally remain in the kingdom after screwing up his own visa situation. He had just completed a “visa run†to the border to extend his stay in Thailand, but thought his new visa was for 30 days.
Apparently, he never looked at his passport – until it was too late – to discover that crossing over the border by land gets you only 15 days.
Pol. Capt. Maneeporn informed Walsh that, even though he was now illegally in Thailand on an expired visa, she would let him extend it another 11 days for 1,900 baht and he’d have to pay the overstay fine of 500 baht a day.
Walsh didn’t want to pay the total 3,900 baht and cursed dropping the “F-bomb†at the female Immigration officer before stalking off.
However he didn’t get far, enraged immigration officers slapped him in cuffs after hearing his “F-bomb†to a fellow immigration officer.
Immigration officials said if he didn’t want to pay for the extension, he’d still have to pay the 500 baht overstay fine and leave the Kingdom within 24 hours or be forcibly deported.
There are a lot of ways to get your visa extended in Thailand, but hurling an expletive at an Immigration Division officer is not one of them the Pattaya Mail reported.
