Holiday Musical Wows – International School of Samui Carols by Candlelight

.

KOH SAMUI – The entire International School of Samui (ISS) Primary School community gathered on the evening of Tuesday 13thDecember to enjoy a truly amazing ‘Carols by Candlelight’ holiday musical event planned and executed by ISS teachers and Primary Class students.

It was an evening of traditional Christmas songs wonderfully executed by students, a talented performance from the ISS Dance Club and special performances from a selection of pupils who also take private music lessons.  Prior and after the performance, students and their teachers and ISS staff organised holiday decorated stalls to sell tempting student-made sandwiches and luscious desserts to help rebuild several staff homes destroyed in the recent heavy rains.

What a great evening and start to the holiday season! In the carefully crafted event each of the Reception though Year 6 Primary Classes sang their own choice of Christmas song, supported beautifully by the Primary School choir, some of the school’s private music instrumentalists and the ISS Senior School band.

The quality of singing was wonderful and the audience delighted with such hits as, “Little Donkey”, enthusiastically sung by the school’s youngest children and a hilarious version of “Deck the Halls” – sung with a twist by Year 5 and 6 students that had everyone clapping for more.

With the subdued lighting from candles held up by the performing children and members of the audience, the ambience and atmosphere of a traditional carol concert was vividly created. The evening truly brought the Christmas spirit to the school community.
