Eight Die in Crash, 3 Wounded

Police state that heavy rains and lack of judgment for a collision between two heavy vehicles – a truck and wheels 10 – Chiang Mai Doi Saket district in which eight people were killed and three wounded yesterday.

The accident occurred around 7.30 in Chiang Rai Doi Saket Road. Police said the truck was running downhill and overtook another vehicle, but could not return to its original lane in time before hitting the truck of the wheel about 10.

Police found four male bodies – including the truck driver 10wheel – and four female bodies at the scene and took the three wounded men, including another Kaewsukham Nattapong truck driver, 21, and Doi Saket Hospital. His injuries were so critical were subsequently transferred to better equipped hospitals Nakhon Ping and Lanna.

The dead were taken to Maharaj Nakhon Chiang coroner Mai Hospital for identification, as some do not carry identity cards.

Police suspect poor visibility in heavy rain at the time contributed to the accident, combined with lack of judgment truck driver.
