CHIANG RAI – The Department of Rural Roads has called a public hearing with various local agencies and residents in Chiang Rai to discuss the construction of a new interchange.

The hearing gathered feedback from relevant agencies and the local people prior to the start of the project. The agenda included the design of the road, the expropriation process, and the initial environmental impact assessment. More than 100 people took part in the meeting.

The new interchange, called Jor 3, will connect the ring road to the west of the Office of Rural Roads with the bypass on the east and a section of Phaholyothin Road in San Sai subdistrict.

The project is expected to facilitate traffic and urbanization in Chiang Rai, which has been designated as the trade center of the upper North and a gateway to neighboring counties.
