CHIANG RAI –  As the long holiday approaches, people are starting to travel back to their villages, crippling fog caused by the density of cold air is causing traffic problems in some areas of Chiang Rai Province.

Thick fog is blanketing roads in Chiang Rai while visibility is very low in various locations, prompting traffic police to set up checkpoints at all risk-prone areas to facilitate people’s commutes.

Drivers have also been asked to leave their headlights and taillights on at all times while traveling.

In the meantime, the Meteorological Department said a moderate high air pressure will continue to cover northern and northeastern regions while temperatures could drop 2-4 degrees Celsius.
