CHIANG RAI – The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and Chiang Rai Province have held a press conference to announce the holding of the ‘2014 Thai Ethnic Group Festival’ on 9th August 2014 at the Circle of Culture, Chiang Rai Province.

The event held in honor of the King’s 87th, and the Queen’s 82nd birthday anniversaries, is also to encourage the ethnic groups in Thailand.

From the 52 ethnic groups in the country, about 1,500 persons will assemble and give performances to present their distinctive identity at the event.

This will promote local tourism in Chiang Rai after the earthquake in May.

In addition to paying homage to the Thai royal family, the activities will include traditional performances, sales of local dishes, rare product sales, a concert, and a seminar.
