Pol Lt Preecha Polsa from Thungmahamek Police Station said upon his arrival with crime scene officers, a doctor and rescuers from a charity foundation, they found the body of Ellis Moate on a tennis court located on the eighth floor of the 26-storey building.

Police said Ellis Moate had rented a room on the 17th floor of the building since 2006. Security camera footage showed he left his room alone with a book and then used an elevator to reach the rooftop.

Police found the novel on the rooftop wall. They assumed the man took his own life by jumping off the roof. They had yet to question his Thai wife.

His body was sent for autopsy and the Australian embassy notified of the death.
