BANGKOK – Australian actor Sullivan Stapleton has been seriously injured while shooting his UK television series in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 36-year-old star of the upcoming sequel 300: Rise of an Emprie was filming US television series Strike Back in Bangkok.picture

He was said to be exploring the country during his down time on the Cinemax series when the accident occurred.

The injury details aren’t known at this time, however Stapleton’s publicist told the new reporters that he was ‘resting comfortably and on his way to a full recovery’.

‘We appreciate all of the well-wishes and support,’ the publicist said in a statement.

Production on the physically demanding series has been pushed back six months to give him enough time to recover, as he performs his own stunts on the show.

A spokesman for Cinemax said the series would continue to film around him in Thailand but its second block of filming, in Hungary, would be delayed.

‘HBO/Cinemax, Sky and Left Bank Pictures all join in wishing Sullivan a full and speedy recovery.’

It’s the fourth and final series of the show, which runs for 10 episodes per season.

It couldn’t come at a worse time for Stapleton, who was set to be doing the red carpet rounds ahead of the release of his first big Hollywood film 300: Rise Of An Empire.

He takes over the lead role from Gerard Butler in the film, which is due for release next week.

He’s also set to appear in neo-western Kill Me Three Times, with Simon Pegg, Alice Braga and Teresa Palmer, which is set for release later this year and directed by Red Dog filmmaker Kriv Stenders.
