PHUKET – Pol Maj Pathapee Srichai, investigation chief at Patong police station told the press that the body Hong Garam, 28, of South Korea, washed ashore on Patong beach early on Wednesday morning and her Korean boyfriend Park Siwoo, 28 is still missing.

Miss Hong Garam was found lying face-down on Patong Beach naked with only a black bra snagged around her neck.

Her body was sent to Patong Hospital for a post-mortem examination into the cause of death.

Police said, Miss Hong Garam was staying at a hotel on Patong beach with her South Korean boyfriend, who is reportedly still missing. Police checked the hotel room, but found no trace of him.

Initially the police said the couple might be engaged in a quarrel that promoted the woman to walk into the turbulent sea in an attempt to commit suicide and the strong tides could have torn off the woman’s clothing.

A security guard at the Charm Hotel on Thawiwong road where the couple checked in, he said he saw the Korean woman leave her room around 1 am with the Korean man following behind. The couple paused at the beach for talk. But a moment later, he said he saw the woman walked up to the sea amid the rains and high waves.

The man followed her and shortly later both disappeared from sights.

Police tried to locate the body of Park Siwoo late today but still could not find him.

Initially the police said the couple might be engaged in a quarrel that promoted the woman to walk into the turbulent sea in an attempt to commit suicide. The man then followed her and then both disappeared, or drowned.
