arrest along the border, after 1.2 million pills of methamphetamine were seized in Chiang Rai.

The NCB Secretary General Pongsapat Pongcharoen revealed that this case of drug traffickers being arrested with possession of 1,200,000 tablets of methamphetamine, and an earlier arrest yielding five kilograms of ice in Chiang Rai, are a result of successful pursuit and investigative work by the NCB and police in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son.

The team has been operating intensively to arrest drug trackers attempting to deliver drugs from the border to the central market.

The key measure, according to Mr.Pongsapat, is to assign relevant agencies to seize drugs along the northern border before the drugs can be delivered to Bangkok, where they create a major danger for the youth of the city.

Meanwhile City News in Chiang Mai reported that Pol. Gen. Pongpat Pongcharuen, NSB secretary held a press conference about the arrest of three Lisu drug smugglers. They are Yao Laoree (44), Saharit Wirasan (25), and Paiboon Taikaweesri (25), all from Chiang Dao. They were captured on Chotana Road in Mae Rim along with 250,000 Yaba pills, a grey Toyota Vigo pickup truck and a white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Before the arrest, the officials received information about Lisu drug runners from Chiang Dao disguised as delivery men in a truck full of cabbages heading to Chiang Mai. They intercepted the grey Toyota on Chotana-Fang road. After searching the vehicle, they found 125 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the six cabbage baskets. Yao, the driver, confessed that he was taking the Yaba from Tambon Mae Na, Amphur Chiang Dao to the Mae Jo produce market. The officials set up a drug trade at the designated pick-up point. The white Chevrolet truck arrived and the other suspects were arrested after they loaded the baskets onto their truck. More photo here.
